Thumbs up Ghost Protein Skimmer in a BioCube 29

Innovative Marine sent us these photos of their new Ghost Protein Skimmer (the MidSize rated for tanks up to 40 gallons) inside the back chamber of a 29-gallon BioCube.

They told us you can even put the aquarium hood back on and close it. Nice!

The skimmer is held in place using a Mag-Float Magnet Cleaner.

Thumbs up Ghost Skimmer in Innovative Marine Nuvo 30 & 38

Just spotted this post on Innovative Marine's Facebook page:

Many have asked “Can this MidSize Ghost Skimmer fit on my NUVO MidSize 30 & 38?” The answer is YES! (with a slight mod)

Using an magnetic aquarium cleaner, you can place one side of the magnet cleaner inside the skimmer’s body, adjust the skimmer’s body to the recommended water line in the back of your tank and securely attach magnet to the outside of the aquarium.

do you think the desktop version of this skimmer would fit into the first chamber of a oceanic biocube 29? i have the dimensions to both but for me rocket science is easier than dimensions

I just chatted with Innovative Marine and they said it will not fit into the first chamber. Sorry about that!

I bought a ghost desktop skimmer recently and it is really loud. Actually I bought both the skimmer and minimax reactor. The pump quality is really bad. Min max pump cover is bent, broken and glue got on the suction cups. The skimmer pump comes with a metal shaft. I have used bubble magus in the past and this skimmer is really inferior compare to a BM QQ which is equally rated and 1/3 of a price in both performance and build quality.

Hi Soeminpaing,

Thank you for your feedback.

If you purchased the MiniMax reactor from us, please email us or give us a call and we will be happy to assist you in getting new a new pump cover and suction cups.

As for the Ghost skimmer, it is a little noisy as indicated in Dan's review. However, it does do the job and is one of the few options that will work for the smaller Innovative Marine aquariums. Hopefully, Innovative Marine will work to continually work to improve the product.

I got it from MD since free Aquamax carbon seems so tempting. I have no issue with marine depot. Marine depot in fact is very friendly and helps me out on a few purchases.

Thank you for review

Dear Dan,

I just bought a Ghost Skimmer for my Mini 40 Fusion. I had a devil of a time installing it because I couldn't decipher the manual's drawings. Your review led me to:
1. Turn the skimmer 90 degrees.
2. Lower the amount of air going into it.
3. Raise the collection cup.
4. Chill about not getting any skimmate yet.
5. And during this process I found that the cup's overflow valve had a cap on it! No more.

So, thanks from another newbie.
