Quick equipment queation for the sps gurus

Buying a skimmer for my new build today.

280 gallon tank with About 300 gallons of water volume after rock , sand, sump and glass calculations. I'm looking at either the sro6000 space saver or the sro5000 internal skimmer. Not sure which one to get... Or maybe recommend a different skimmer??

300 gallons of water
Heavy stocked with fish and coral
Sps
Water depth is adjustable
Must be internal skimmer
29" max height
Wanting a neck cleaner

It depends on how many fishes you are going to keep. If you put about 30 to 40 fishes, I think it's fine. If you put more, it may give you more issue if you also keep a full tank of sps.

I think I'll pass on the nyos. Did some reading, watched the reading texan on YouTube... Etc.. The collection cups sometimes fuse to the body

I use a SRO INT 5000 in a 2000 liters system.....
No complains about it...

PS.: I'm not a fan of crowded tanks........my previous setup has 5 tangs and 2 btf....my actual has one small tang...

I have a heavy tang stock on my 280 sps tank and I run a sss250 and I love it. No3 and po4 are undetectable for the most part.

What's the budget ? On a tighter one I would look into Deltec 1660 . Or else my choice would be bubble King 250 with RD3 pump .

I can spend about 1000 bucks canadian with a lid cleaner. That's why I mentioned the sro5000 int with lid cleaner. Comes to about 1100 bucks

Do you have room for two? I use two skimmers on my larger, heavy stocked tanks. A pair of decade old ASMs with the Sedra pumps can out-skim a single Bubble King with ease on my tanks... not that I am suggesting either of those models, but only that a pair of good, solid skimmers will be your best bet.

If a single skimmer would work better, I would buy one in a heartbeat with no worry about the cost. However, two have always worked better.

I have a SRO with Sicce PSK pump and it is a monster. I got a newer one with a DC pump and it was absolute junk. I don't know if the bubble blaster model is good personally, but just a bit of caution to always look at the pump when comparing skimmer types, even amongst the same manufacturers.

I run the sro3000 on my 100 gallon it's rated for a 200 gallon heavy stocked tank and it just keeps up but it's consistent

I run a bubble king double cone on my 240 width 30+ fish in it and the skimmer could handle more. It's a beast of a skimmer and I'm glad because I like fish in my tank!!!

eshoppes S-300 has sicce psk 1200, seems to work good for me... rated up to 500 gallons I believe so probably be good for a heavy stocked 300... maybe

Have a look at marine sources. All Chinese equipment has had its negatives but I have stood by these guys with my recent purchases and haven't been disappointed.

For that price you could pick up a monster 2500 or even a 3500 D.C. Skimmer and head cleaner

I have the SRO-5000 on my 180 display 300 total and it kicks major butt! I wouldn't go Space Saver. The pump being inside the skimmer body reduces volume of the bubble/water contact zone and would reduce efficiency. In a perfect world I would get an external version of whatever skimmer I liked best. Externals have some greats advantages: better consistent water level control, more efficient, larger bubble/water mix volume. I like that it doesn't matter the level of water the skimmer sits in, it skimms the same because is fed with a separate pump. External skimmers can be placed in sump like an internal also, as long as there is the room. I have a 100 gallon sump, so I have the room.

What was the skimmer and D.C. Pump that didn't work so well?
