250 mh to much?

Is a 250 DE too much for a 18x18 cube that's 20 inch deep. For sps

absolutely not...if anything. probably the perfect light for SPS. i would imagine most ppl would have suggested a 250w if you asked "what size MH for 18x18x20"... that size tank with that height you would have to run either 150w HQI or a 250w ... i recommend having the light 8-10" off the water surface.... what bulb are you considering running?

I have a 20k chrome running right now going to a Phoenix 14k. I thought it was good and all my corals looks great but any new ones I put in get bleached. I start them about 5 inches off the bottom and they bleach so was just curious. I grew up using t5s mostly.

Your fixture has the glass on it still, right?

I have 14K Phoenix about 5-6" off the water and I can grow acropora just under the water without any issues with bleaching.
