To be honest I've only seen mine flicker when it's supposed to be one. I've never seen anything happen when it's off.
But I also turn my light off every night at the source with the power button on the unit. I don't want the fan running all night when it doesn't need to be. I feel like this could extend the light life a bit. Who knows Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk

Can anyone point me to some tank threads for large SPS tanks(180+) that are using AP700 or AP700 + T5 supplements? Just curious to see what types of growth and coloration folks are able to achieve with these lights in a densely populated SPS tank.

Ok, question for all.
When mounting the AP700, center mount or outer? I kinda like the center mount. Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk |

Anyone on this thread know of some epic SPS tanks that use the AP700? Searches seem to turn up a lot of false positives unfortunately. It just takes one mention of the AP700 in a build thread to incorrectly flag it..

Here are a few sps in my tank with AP799. After one month. By no means thriving but not dying either.
Seriatopora stylophora and acropora. Acropora is really Browning probably the tank is too new. The others look good. Each is about half way up in my tank. Light at 45 percent and climbing. Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk

Looking good. Any SPS colors that you have difficulty in popping? Blues? Tri colors?

Hi Thor2j,
That looks amazing. Would you mind sharing your intensity settings for us? I've had the same lamp for years now and I just never felt quite thrilled with the color. But I think its just my settings. FB

Can those with smaller ~50g tanks please post their schedule that they have had success with? Very hard to find info on small ranks. Thank you.

Mine is 24X24X18. My light is 10 inches above the surface. I run a twelve hour cycle with four hours ramp up and down. Max intensity is 30 percent with a color peak to color option 3 I believe. |

Kessil Coverage
I just bought a new tank and am curious on lighting. The dimensions are 36” X 36” X 21” Height, would I need one or two Ap700’s? If I’m just keeping a few SPS corals not crazy. Please advise on height I should place above water line. I currently run one over my 55ga cube, and love it.
Thank you |

Now I have added 2x Orphek OR120 strip leds. I did it not because ap700 would lack power (AP700 is very powerfull), but to spread light evenly to prevent shadowing. I am supplementing 4h of orphek and I have measured that the two units adds 100PAR in mid level in my tank. My tank water level from bottom to surface is 64cm (25 inches). Both Kessil and Orpheks are placed 17cm (6,7 inches) from the surface. |
