Is low flow the secret to having BTA bubble up?

Just curious what your opinion is? I have 5 rbta and one green. I havent been able to maintain bubble tips in 3 years or so. I also have always had s high flow system. A few days ago i took out my mp40 and now all the stringy nems have a couple bubbles and their tentacles are not as long and getting plump. There are probably more factors like feeding, light, etc.

Mine are under a light pretty high up and they don’t get too much flow since i unplugged the mp40. I feed my tank every day a mixed variety of liquid foods and shrimp, coral foods, etc. the nems get a little food directly a few times a week. What’s your experience with them?

Thanks

My BTA is half shaded under a rock cliff.
The tentacles exposed to direct intense light will bubble at the tip, the ones in the shade do not. The bubbles follow the curve if the rock.

I was under the impression they liked a lot of flow! That would explain why mine keeps tucked in so tight, I thought my clowns were just relentless with their love.

Mine love high flow. The only time the tips bubble is when the flow near them is off. Mine have stayed in the area of the highest flow in my tank for years. One of them has been in the same spot in my main display for over 10 years. It’s huge at well over 2’ across. He positioned himself right next to a Tunze powerhead and in the direct path of my SeaSwirl returns which is an area that sees constant high flow. It’s also right under the lighting near the top of the tank so it’s also getting very strong light throughout the day.
