Questions about Acrylic
I have an Acrylic tank and it has holes drilled in the bottom of it that I would like to patch. Does anyone here know what type of Acrylic an aquarium is normally made from? I need to know so the Weld-On 16 gets a good bond with the patches over the holes. I have heard that if you use it to bond two different types of Acrylic it may not seal properly.

Moved to the DIY Forum as more on topic here.
I have never heard of two kinds of acrylic before, so I can't help.

A closed cell acrylic is what is typically used. Search for acrylic construction. http://reefcentral.com/forums/showth...c+construction

Not an expert but have been using acrylic tanks since 1991... Have 'patched' and covered many holes, often with 'cheap' thin acrylic from Home Depot. All have remained 'bonded' for years without problems. Never even considered the different type of acrylic problem.

yep... cast acrylic is best and what tanks are made from..
extruded acrylic is ok for a patch.. Extruded has higher stresses and can crack easier.. The Optix brand acrylic sold at HD is extruded.. estreetplastics.com sells cast (and has the best online pricing I've found for it too) I buy all my acrylic from them..
