What is this? Snail...

It’s got a shiny shell but when it’s out in the open it covers itself in this ‘skin’ ...

It came inside some live rock I got... is it good bad or evil?

looks like a cowrie , given its size quite possibly a money cowrie , a good algae grazer.

I wasn’t aware that cowrie do that with their mantel, pretty cool! I did stumble on this read and thought I’d share regarding different snail species resembling cowrie but can potentially go after coral in the tank. Just some additional info.

cowries are pretty awesome. Money cowries seem to be hard to find in the hobby these days. On that 'other' reefer forum for nanos people report when an online retailer gets them in bulk and do group orders.
