Ordering "The Package"
Ever since I set up a new tank earlier this year, I have been following the Our Tbs thread with great interest. I have yet to stock my 58 gallon tank with anything and I finally decided to order "The Package". I was a little hesitant to order because the shipping costs to my local (read small) airport are quite high. But what swayed me to order is what I have read here on RC over and over again. TBS is the best when it comes to live rock, and from looking at other people’s tank photos you can see that this is a great way to quickly establish a beautiful reef tank. I can’t wait to hear from Richard and I will be sure to post a lot of photos when "The Package" arrives.

I know you will be happy with this decision and if you lollowed enough you know which are good and bad critters. I was looking at the 58g tank over the weekend and like it a lot but the reg 75g with stand for about the same price as the 58g tank only and I think I'll settle with the 75 and pick it up tomorrow night. Remember to post pictures.

This is the tank as is sits now. Not much to look at. I have managed to grow a nice size clump of chato in the sump/fuge.

I ordered a 58 gallon package. I think Richard is making a trip to the Keys for at least a week. I will wait to here from him and then give an update.

Good news. Richard called sooner than expected. Got my first part today. I had to drive 4 hours to Spokane International to pick it up. The packages look like they survived the trip very well.
Now it is time for an early Christmas. |

I love this rock and the crushed shell substrate is beautiful. I have seen lots of snails, a few gorilla crabs, several brittle starfish, baby hermit crabs, one mantis, lancelets, small shrimp, worms of various shapes, barnacles, mollusks, tunicates, feather dusters, sponges, corals, macro algae and more. Here are a few of the photos I have taken thus far.

Sponge
Shellfish Yellow and red Clam Here is a starfish that caught a lancelet. The lancelet later got free. This is the only glimps of a mantis I have got. There is plenty of clicking from all the rocks. Hard to see but it is there. |

The lights are out and all sorts of critters are coming out.
Here is a small shrip. I turned the lights on to take his picture. |

Very nice. I think they look better than the rocks I got back in Mar & Apr and the ones I've seen here.
I know you must be happy and excited but take the time to get that mantis out. Before I got the last one out I'd to worry every time I stick my hands in there. |

http://www.blueboard.com/mantis/pest/catch.htm There is some information about trapping them. You probably want to get him out before you recieve part two as he will love to eat some of your hermit crabs and snails. |

The 2 mantis I had would smash rocks, crack shells from hermit crabs and snails for food. Take the time to get them out.

Thanks for the information on the mantis. I also read the great information that Richard has at the TBS website (Animals you May Want to Remove ). I have confirmed that I have at least 2 mantis. I will try to trap them. I have known from the beginning where one of the mantis lives. I put the bated trap in the tank and drew out the second more colorful mantis. He ran across the entire length of the tank. Neither has gone near the trap yet.
The tank is really quite beautiful. I am very impressed with the rock. I think I will stick to the Gulf biotype. I just need to figure out what reef safe fish I can get that come from the area. There are no fish in the TBS price list. Are there any fish that you sell Richard? Still sitting at .2 ammonia Mantis number one. Notice how photogenic he is. I believe this is a Porcelain. |
