Euphelia diseases - Heads dying 1 per day
Hello Folks,
So out of the blue, 1 of my branching hammer corals started dying, 1 head per day. Polyps retract 1 day, and starts falling the next day. Once it falls off entirely, a new heads starts the process. I ended up with no Euphylia corals after 4 weeks. The corals had been in there for about a year. Has anyone experienced this before? What caught my eye was the domino effect. In the past, whenever water quality slipped, the whole colony retracted, and then came back to life when parameters where corrected. Anyone have this happen to them? Tank is 120g, with T5. 3 tangs, 2 damsels, 1 six line wrasse, and 1 coral beauty. |

I once lost a frag of 3 heads to brown jelly pretty quickly... Lps can get infected from what I know (euphyllia more commonly) after getting their flesh wounded. I don’t know if that’s what you’re experiencing, but you can look it up and check if that’s it.

I have used ciprofloxacin in the past when dealing with brown jelly with success. A must is removing damaged/diseased tissue before it becomes necrotic (I used a frag saw to get a clean cut on a wall hammer).
