A fish selection question for 65g FOWLR
Hi
I am currently in the process of stocking my 65 gallon fish only and macro algae tank (with soft corals in the future). My goal is to get as many captive bred fish that will stay 3-4" in adult size and are peaceful. So far I have quarantined and introduced into the display tank - two captive bred clown fish. I am currently quarantining a captive bred watchman goby and a purple firefish. (the firefish is not captive bred - yes, broke my own rule here). My thought behind getting these two fish in this order was to get the most timid fish I plan on keeping settled first, before getting my next few fish. I wanted to know if anyone here has experience with captive bred orchid dotty backs? would they be aggressive to the firefish and watchman goby in a 65 gallon, if introduced after the firefish and goby have had a chance to settle in the display tank? Thanks! |

I'd stay away from a dottyback, those things can be viscous and would probably kill your firefish at a minimum.
You said you wanted the most timid fish settled first but then added clowns... clown fish are actually quite territorial and can be very aggressive to new additions. Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk

Are we talking 5w-30 or 10w-30?

Orchids are the most peaceful dottyback. I think you should be okay.

I have an Orchid Dottyback and he/she was my FIRST addition to my reef tank. He has never bothered other fish. He is indeed territorial and will defend his den, but besides that, he will leave the other fish alone...
