Quick carbon question
One of my media bags tore. Would there be any issue with putting both carbon and phosgard in the same media bag? Thanks!

Nope not really...their exhaustion rates can be quite different but its unlikely it matters much..
Why are you running phosguard anyways?.. Gfo can cause more harm than good if not needed...its for those with a phosphate problem

Do people still use pantyhose tied shut for their carbon?

Was running a bit to help with a diatom bloom that came from my Rodi filters being more exhausted than I thought and letting silica in my water changes (after trying other things, and then piecing together info from several helpful answers on different threads, that’s the theory I’m on currently, anyway, haha!) Just got the new rodi cartridges in today, but was going to put the remaining phosgard in with the new carbon. Didn’t know it could hurt, thought that was only the resin based stuff that could leak back? Thanks for the heads up. What does it do negatively? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

If u have corals it can drive the po4 so low to where it starves the corals. They need a little po4 to thrive. If u don’t have a problem with po4 & u use it anyway is when problems occur.

Thanks for the info. Do you have an idea of what PO4 levels are desirable? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Acceptable range has been .03 to .06 but recently I think people are going a little higher like .05 to .1
