Bristleworms are harmless detritivores. Some people have had problems with the really big ones (they can get to be over a foot long), but a 3" one is nothing to worry about. Their population is self limiting based upon how much food is available in the tank.

Kill it now before it kills your fish. I just ran into that issue with a worm and my purple firefish.

Upon further inspection, one is about 5" long another maybe a bit smaller, and 2-3 smaller ones, I feed once a day between switching off with a mix of flakes, frozen mysis and frozen brine shrimp. Just worried because i have two gobie/pistol pairs and would rather not have them get hit with bristles. Ive read they are great for cuc, but i just dont want them to get huge.

This is what just happened to me last week. I would get it out while you still have a chance. I'm still trying to catch mine.

depends on the species of worm, some species may be harmless detritivores (i would say the majority are) but others may pray on fish or solely eat a type of sponge or even be worm preditors etc they all come in different shapes colours and sizes.
I can't really id the worm from the pic but there's a good chance it's just a harmless bristleworm
