Personally, I know a few are not too great, and the others I am not too experienced with. What size tank? IMHO, this should be one of the tank's largest investments. On my 28 gallon tank I run a Euro-reef CS6-3 which is mesh modded and reciruculating modded. This thing is a beast and I still collect 1 full cup every 5-7 days, I do run it a bit wet though.... So I really think it depends on your philosophy of reefing... What type of reef, how large total water volumn, other means of filtration, feeding regiments, how many fish, etc...? I don't think you can ever go wrong buying a reputable brand, rated for 2-3 times the total water column. You can always scale back on the skimmer, or run on a timer or turn it off periodically, but will have to almost starve your system if you buy an underated/ low-quality skimmer. Just my 2 cents, good luck!

I would go with with a bak-pak skimmer if you want hang on...and if it's in sump, I reccommend an ASM skimmer...they are like euroreefs only made in a cheaper way so they're cheaper.

I used a Coralife Super Skimmer 125 on my 90 gallon worked ok, but overflowed several times, now i have a RSM and it uses the prizm skimmer and it works pretty good, hasn't overflowed yet and works.

If you can afford it buy MSX 160. I got one to replace my Tunze comline and I am pretty impressed so far.

I have a Prizm, and although I don't have experience with anything else, it really doesn't seem that bad. I added an air valve and it doesn't require much adjusting; I get a cup full of "tea water" every few weeks on my little lightly stocked 20g, and its pretty quiet, which is important since my tank is ~ 3 feet from my bed.

the sixty five would be more than you'll ever need for that tank, however, the octopus is more fit for your application. You have a 20g right?
It's better to just go ahead and fork the cash or else you'll end up finding yourself doing it a second time around. |

This is like asking "What new car should I buy?" and letting everyone chime in on what the drive.
I drive an ASM skimmer, and I like it. I had a coralife, it was okay I guess, but I would never go back to one. |

I have an AquaC Urchin (in-sump version of the Remora) and it can't keep up with my CRP Bak-Pak. Honestly a good pump/venturi combination is the most important thing when buying a skimmer that works that way.
For my Bak-Pak I am using a Rio 600 with RVT (Rejuvenation Venturi Technology) and it works fine. I haven't even mesh modded it or anything - no needle wheel. Some of the newer Bak-Paks come with Maxi-jets that work the same way, im not sure how well those work. All of the skimmers you mentioned are pretty bargain, and thus you will get some pretty bargain results. For in-sump stuff ASM seems to work, Aqua Medic Turboflotor maybe? Bak-Paks work for HOB but an in-sump skimmer would be the best choice.
