D2 did a video on his workflow in Lightroom. Can't find it. Anyone share a link?

Awesome. Sorry Dennis. Not sure if you minded PMs.
I really need a Macro lens, but trying to do the best I can with my 50mm portrait and 18-55mm kit lens for now, Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |

So it's not a good photo as far as composition, or even focus. It was handheld since I couldn't find my tripod. But using a little of your workflow, I was able to get the colors more in line with what my eye sees. I'm using an EOS Rebel Xsi, and the 18-55mm kit lens. I'm curious if I could have better results with my EF 50mm 1:1.8 instead. It being a Prime lens, it's really difficult to get in close. I shot w/o flash, the white LEDs all the way up, and the blues at 50%. 1/80 sec; at f 5.6, ISO800. Any basic tips? (Other than to spend $600 on a macro lens...) |

Maybe just a little camera shake? You're not zoomed in too much (and not using a macro) so if you open up your aperture a little more to maybe 3.5 and bring your ISO up to 1000 you can eek out a little bit faster shutter speed without bringing in too much noise or too shallow of a focus. Or try the tripod. Color looks real good.

My son "returned" my tripod.... I can move the ISO from 800 to 1600, so I'll try that with the same frame. This lens can only get to 4.0 at 25mm focal length. I also have a remote trigger. I'll try that and repost. I want to limit variables, so I won't bother with the portrait lens at this point. Thanks for the tips. (Mods can move this to the Photo SIG if that's important).
