BT: 10 gallon nano

I have been tossing the idea around for quite some time now on setting up a nano tank specifically for very small fish/inverts and small frags from my 90 gallon display tank that has been running for 3 or so years now. Once I saw the jbj cubey I couldn’t resist! i have played around with nano tanks that were tied into my 90 gal. i have also had a biocube 14 gallon in the past which i really liked and definitely miss! always loved the idea of a nano all in one.

i set it up on top of my dresser so it is eye level which makes maintenance a bit annoying but that could be a good thing (forcing me to keep my hands out of it all the time:reading I did a 10 gallon water change from my 90 gallon, filled the cubey with that water and dumped a bunch of reef sand and a couple pieces of live rock. also, i had a sponge in my sump for maybe a year and it was conveniently similar size to the stock sponges (there were three of them. I threw one in my sump of the 90 and the other two I put away). It also came with a massive bag of carbon, which I removed, and a bag of ceramic plugs which are now located in the middle chamber in the back of the tank. The water cleared up in no time!

I'm using an old glass heater and thermometer i had laying around also had a old mp10 that i had. so far i have seen some snails the must have been living in my sump and a bunch of pods and tiny brittle starfish (Loving how a small tank helps you notice the little creatures in the tank!) now it is looking good! Wondering if this tank could skip the cycle? Does anyone recommend anything or have any advice that would help me skip the cycle? Im not in a hurry to put fish in, i just don't want all the pods and other animals that hitchhiked to die.

Definitely need some more rock, still thinking of ideas on what i want to keep in there as far as fish and inverts. thinking a bunch of super tiny fish (barnacle blennies, etc) and all small frags of corals from my 90 gallon tank. It will be fun to watch everything grow in from small frags.

Nano stocking/advice

Here are some pics.

I had one of those smart power strips and so now the lights, pumps, and heater can be turned on and off with Alexa! Also I’m def gonna need to wire this up so it doesn’t look this bad so please ignore the lack of aesthetics! Also need to remove the tv mount from the wall behind the tank. I have microbacter7 and stability. Going to add a little of both of those to help build up the bacteria.

More pics! I added the fish and the pistol shrimp didn’t make it. Water temp of the bag shipped was 68 degrees... the fish were eating yesterday so i think they are fine.

Also added a Pederaon cleaner shrimp, sexy shrimp, porcelain crab. All is well in the nano.
