Really amazing tank Nick! Nicely done. I love the movement of the fish, crystal clear water and cooooorals!! haha

Makes me realize the beauty of having a decent number of fish to grab your attention, in combo with sps.

I believe it's a Pink Panther. I have not paid any attention to designer anything lately. I've been just enjoying the tank and taking it easy.

Some update. The tank has been set up for a year now after the transfer from the Elos. I could not be any more happy with this.

One of the most underrated fish in this hobby.

And my biggest accomplishment in this hobby and most rewarding. I've kept this fat and healthy for 3 months now. Always pecking on the sand and rocks and out swimming. Beautiful fish!

With all those angelfish, I was forced to hook up my very first Elos 70 to the system and house most of the LPS. Mainly, acans are crack to the angels. Open brain and acanthrophillia were also eaten.

Not as finesse as the main tank but those LPS are quite happy with their new home with LED. I'm running the Hydras 26 HD and the damn thing blew out the blue channel after less than 6 months.

couple things...awesome frickin update sir...im excited you updated the thread. i often look at your tank, i am trying to decide between 86x36x27 orrr 72x48x30. i view this thread to put an image to my thought process. question i do have. how does the powder blue and brown tangs coexist so nicely for you?? the powder blue tang is hands down my favorite fish. but i could never seem to keep one. even in an 11yr well established mixed reef, they would always perish for some reason...however, i tried a powder brown tang at a relatively small size and grew him out to be the biggest saltwater fish i ever kept. it baffled me but i chalked it up to luck of the draw. my powder brown was super thick and well fed. unfortunately i lost him during hurricane sandy. i know the normal chatter is the powder blues and browns dont mix well. but ive seen a couple systems that house both in other threads recently...

This is awesome! How have I only just discovered your reef. I’m building a 72x22x26 in the same style weir and metal frame (my sump will sit under the frame though). Have you done anything with the frame since putting it in or is it still open? I’m planning on cladding mine to match my furniture. Keen to see what you’ve done with yours, if you’d be so kind to show? Cheers Chris

I would go with a 86x48x27. You want the 48" width. It's amazing.
With the above size, you would have a better chance of multiple Acanthurus in the same tank. My blue is smaller than my brown. However, it chases the brown around and around the tank when I first put them in together. No damage or anything and if the brown was sick of the chasing, it turns around and the blue would stop. This last for about a month. Occasionally, I do see the blue follow the brown but it's not in an aggressive manner. I have these two for over 10 months now.

I did take a hit in polyp extensions of the sps with the angels in the tank. But regals are a must have for me. I can live with a bit of pecking here and there.

The angelfish ate some of the acans and fleshy LPS. I either set up another tank and keep those corals or they will be eaten by the angels.
Euphyllia seems to be not bothered by them.

Hi Chris,
My stand is made from Aluminun with powder coated. I wish it was steel because it would be so much easier to skin it.
I framed around the stand using 1x3 maple studs and I'm using working on putting the doors together using A1 maple plywood. The finished stand is still a work in progress. I will build a canopy next year when the weather gets better.
