DC180 pump

Ok going to bite the bullet and purchase the DC180, but looking on the RE website i see the skimmer comes with option of the red dragon or the RD3 speedy mini. Is the upgrade to the RD3 worth the extra $$? Also, if ordered straight from RE what is the appoxement shipping cost and time to the Midwest?

We no longer off the Double Cone 180's without the RD3. For what it's worth, the RD3 is the best skimmer pump you can get and it's ability to control the wattage/speed in really fine increments make fine tuning a skimmer a breeze. With the RD3, the Double Cone 180 performs best between 18 and 24 watts. As such, it's MUCH more efficient than the Red Dragon 1 that it replaced.

As for shipping, it should be free. That said, the website shows out of stock but we just got a couple in. The website should be updated in the next day or so.
