Pairing clowns
I bought an Ocellaris clown when I first set up my tank months ago and then added a small Da Vinci clown two days ago. The Da Vinci is much smaller than my original Oscellaris and I was told by an associate at my LFS that they would pair just fine since there is a clear size difference.
Online guides I've looked at since have all said that to pair clowns you should add them juveniles. Am I asking for trouble with these clowns together? No issues yet. |

If there's a clear size difference, you should be fine. In my experience, females are substantially larger.
Juveniles great, but even these have issues sometimes. Just keep a watch and see how/what they do If there's a problem, they usually show up quickly. |

I do notice sometimes the larger one turns around and goes at him. I saw goes at because I'm not entirely sure what's happening - the larger one turns like it's going to bite the smaller one but I don't think he actually gets bit considering I don't see any nipped fins. He smaller one eats without any issues. Should I be concerned? |

She's just letting him know who is at the top. Just let it play out. I usually find they either get together, or the smaller one is kicked out. |

I’ve had two established males transition into females within less than two months when paired with juvenile clowns.
