Can I mix NoPox w/kalkwasser in ATO reservoir?
I just recently started using kalkwasser in the ATO (instead of dosing Seachem 2-part). I also dose a small amount ( ~ 0.3mL )of NoPox in the main tank on a daily basis.
Can I just put the equivalent amount of NoPox for a week's worth of ATO water in the reservoir with the kalkwasser? I read people mixing vinegar with kalkwasser, though no one seems know exactly what is in NoPox. Most speculate it is just some combination of ethanol/acetate. I am thinking it should be ok, but wondering if there could any ill-effects doing so. BTW, the ATO reservoir is inside a dark cabinet and in a tightly closed plastic container. |

We know what is in nopox. One of my graduate students took an nmr and identified the components. It’s ethanol and vinegar (acetic acid) with some small amounts of methanol and isopropanol. There is a long thread in the chemistry forum.
Concentrated nopox will cause crazing of acrylic. Dilute nopox should be fine. |
