Pressure Rated Pump Suggestion - Blueline or Sequence
I'm setting up a 120 gallon reef and I'm in need of a pressure rated pump. I'm sort of on the fence between the Blueline 100 HD and the Sequence Reeflo Marlin. My main concerns are heat transfer and sound level. I've used the Reeflo Snapper pumps and they are nearly silent and have very low heat transfer. I like the fact that the Blueline is a magnetic pump but I don't have any information on how quiet/noisy it is or what the heat transfer is like. The other question I have is whether I should be looking at the Marlin pump at all. Sequence has a saltwater series of pumps as well. Are there any issues with using the Marlin in a reef tank given that it is not in the saltwater series? Will I have problems down the road with corrosion if I don't go with one of the saltwater series pumps?
Any help from folks who have used these pumps would be most appreciated. I just need a nudge in either direction so that I can move forward. Thanks so much!!! |

The SW line are the older model flow pumps, along the lines of the Dart, etc. The UNO pumps like the Marlin are the pressure pumps, and are saltwater safe. I think the main difference between the SW and Reeflo lines may be build quality, as they tout the SW's as commercial grade. I currently use a Tarpon to run my beckett skimmer. It is a great, very quiet pump.

Just call them to get answers to all of your questions. They have a very kind group that works with the hobby pumps.
