Sump question
125 DT with a 75gal sump that i made by taking a glass tank and putting in glass baffles. Tank has been up 3-4 years. The first chamber is where the water enters from the tank and also has the skimmer. Second chamber is pump to tank, heaters, GFO reactor, and large marine pure block. Fuge just has some rubble of live rock and chaeto. Waiting on reactor and LEDs to make cheato reactor. Not running any filter socks or floss normally so I get a lot of detritus in the first chamber. I usually just vacuum it out but was thinking i could add some type of way to catch it before it gets to the skimmer? Any suggestions? Please post pictures

A filter sock is literally designed for exactly what you are describing. Did you not want to use one?
Otherwise, there isn't entirely much I'm aware of to 'fix' the issue you are having, other then what you are doing and just cleaning it out periodically. You can get a filter sock that attaches right to the end of the pipe with drawstrings, or buy a holder. Mine are wide enough I just clip them to the glass of the sump, and the pipe goes right in. |
