Tim get the diamond bits and we will drill that tank at a meeting if you want or get together at your place and drill it. if you can get a hold of some scrap you can try it a time or two on it. go slow and keep it wet, above all make sure it isn't tempered.

Stray,
Good point about whether or not the glass is tempered. I'm not sure but there were 4 holes drilled in the base previously so I'm assuming it's not but you know what happens when you assume things.

Tim, don't assume it isn't tempered just because it is drilled. If it is tempered and has holes in it, that just means the holes were drilled before it was tempered.

Any suggestions on how to determine if it's tempered?

Tim, I have read something about looking at the glass with polarized sunglasses and seeing some pattern of some sort. I can't remember for sure just how you do it or what to look for but you can research it online and find out I am sure. Google it and add reef central in the search, I know I have read about it here before.

you can also use an lcd laptop screen. look at the screen through the glass and if it is tempered, you won't be able to see the screen. if i remember right you may have to rotate the screen from side to side.
if you have polarized glasses, look at your screen if it is lcd and turn your head. same concept.

tempered glass
O.K guys. I tried looking at the LCD screen from a laptop and had no problem seeing it so I guess I'm O.K. according to that test. I'll try the polorized glasses test too. Thanks for the suggestions

Tim, did you try the glasses yet? If so, what did you find out?
