I actually think it looks very much like a malu and pretty exact to several I've had.

I'm pretty certain myself, by now I'm sure a crispa would be more upright to take in good light, where every malu I've had seemed to just lay low like that, safely tucked by rocks and out of heavy flow area, content w/ modest light, and such bright color remains, where it seem crispa almost always gain some beige.

Feed him. If he grow then he is a Crispa. If he doesn't and spawned then he is a Malu. If he doesn't grow and doesn't spawn then she is a female Malu, full of eggs. Then you need a male Malu.

How big is it Ron?
Mine continues to grow with only occasional direct feeding, measures at least 10 or 11 inches across and is still happily planted in a hole in the liverock, so now I really have no doubt mine is a crispa. |

Yes, I agree Ron. It definitely looks like a crispa. If it were the usual crispa color, gray/ tan, no one would think it even might be a malu.

Very nice anemone.
It is sorta in the sand, still small. May be Malu still but more like Crispa now even if it is in the sand.

How do malu’s Handle shipping? Are they as sensitive to shipping as gigs and mags?

Malu are hardy and shipped rather well. You can often get Malu at LFS and they will be OK, no treatment needed.

I'm happy you took good enough care of it for it to change species.
