Coralife 150w UV protection

I bought a used coralife pendant and I needed to purchase a UV guard because the protector and grill was missing. I purchased an acryllic uv protection sheet and had it cut to slide into the pendant. My question is... will the acryllic melt because its fairly hot... It is urgent that i get a response, id rather not burn my house down xD thanks!

another question, I have a phoenix 14k bulb in it DE. Do I even need a uv protector? I hear they block out uv's or just a minimum? The fixture is a good 8 inches from the tank open top.

alright thanks a lot, yeah i figured that out actually last night, the acryllic i slid in melted and warped.... I have another question, since I am a novice DIY guy, i was wondering if an old glass fish tank lid would suffice as a guard for my DE bulb fixture. the glass top if from marineland, i was just going to cut it and fit it into the fixture.
