so far I like it a lot. I also have a RW4 been running in the dry rock tank for about 6+ months now... 1 PP8 is making a wave in my 36" 90 may or may not add the RW4 to it. not sure yet. have to see what my scape does to the flow.

and speaking of scape my TBS LR is being shipping out this eve. and get here tomorrow morning!
its cosing another 100 or so to ship it than planed as the air had planed to air fright it on is not running so we had to use another

hopefully I'll love the LR tho...

well sh*t looks like my LR from TBS is stock in Den. guess there getting some snow.
it arrived there late last night as was to go out and be here by noon today. as of now its not scheduled until 3 tomorrow.

really sucks as I had to pay extea shipping on top of the normal air fright.
let see if it comes tomorrow and what the rock looks like.

here a pic with the RB V2 on my rimless tank. not SO bad but I am going to see if a can hang it. see if land load is ok with 2 small holes in the roof.

the thing about the included mounting hardware is you really cant adjust the height much at all. or the legs will be in the water if I wanted to lower it a cpl inches.

anyway I hope to hang it. it will look nice and clean and sleek.

Worst case, go to a local hardware store and pickup some 1/2" conduit and a bender. I spray painted mine and it looks clean. Cheap, sturdy, and adjustable light hanging system!

Your build looks awesome so far.

Can't you just cut the legs with a hacksaw? Assuming you want it closer and never higher. It definitely would look cleaner hanging IMO.

That is gorgeous! Would love to visit Utah one day. It's in the 80's here in TN, and as always we have plenty of humidity...

You could flip the mounts that way the arms come down on the outside. Just an idea. I wouldn't put it too low though. Those 5w Cree's with 90° optics penetrate pretty well.

Ok so a lil update LR has been with me for about 24 hrs now...
do to the extra day in Den. I added it to a holding QT tank.
checked the ammonia 6 hrs after adding it and was at 2ppm
checked it after 20 hrs with my it climbed to 4ppm so I did a tank transfer to my DT..

hopefully the nice rise it the QT washed off all the crap...

here are some pics of the rock:

this pice is so nice but might be to BIG for me contemplating taking a hammer to it...
 photo 20160418_141439.jpg

brs reefsafer 5 sec ssape just to have the rock in the tank. this rock has been in SW for 6 months now due to the slow build and then the leaking 40br.

 photo 20160418_140432.jpg

The large rock may make a nice stable base piece of you bury as far as possible in the sand. Just an idea. If that don't float your boat by all means Thor away.
Also not sure if you caught it in the photon thread, but my 24 v2 is 8" above my 40 breeder. Seems about right to me.

ah no I missed that post. I was thinking between 8 & 12 above tank...

yeah I was thinking the same but i did not want to put the BRS reefsaver on top of the primo LR..

here is the after pic of getting the LR not really scaped just a real quick put in in the tank job.

did I tell you all that I got a royal gramma in with the rocks? its doing pretty well still pretty scared of me but has eating some flake food.

oh and doing the tank transfer worked great. the ammonia went from 4ppm to .25 i'll check it this eve. to see what it at.

on a side note came home to a buzzing tunze ATO for some reason it pumped more water it the tank and the float switch kicked in?
so I unplugged it ...will have to get that all sorted out as I am going to vegs for 5 days on the 1st...

WOW that is some awesome LR, and great freebies! I was going to use TBS, but after spending so much on everything else, I decided on the cheapest option and just give it time, dry pukani from BRS.

If I had to do it again, and wanted some real microfauna in the tank, TBS would be my first call.

dinos will clear up as they always do. Least they are less unattractive on TBS rock then with tanks like me and Homer with dry rock.

I am a couple months in and on the very tail end as I have a few spots left as I wait for coraline algae to grow.

Very nice looking, that rock looks great! I'd echo the suggestion of hacksaw. The legs on my RB light were a bit too long, the feet needed to come in a bit to sit on the lip of the tank. Quick measure and cut with the saw and all's good.

thanks guys for the kinda words, all that life getting covered my dino just sucks not sure its looks better on TBS vs dry. haha was hoping I could avoid it. but its all part of the process.

I still plan on hanging the RB light from the ceiling when I pay my rent gonna ask the landlord if it 's OK.

on side notes
my tunze ATO pump sounds odd reminds me of the flaps airplane wings kinda of a high pitched wine almost. does this sound normal?

there is a pistal shrimp at least one in the tank but so glad its not to noisy as this tank is in my bed room does not keep me up at all! SO GLAD I was worried that it might even set up a holding 40br to but the rock in once I got it to sort through the hitchhikers witch I only sort of did..so good news there.

the Royal is accepting flak food after the 2nd day and is now out exploring the tank most of the time. such a beauty!

well I noticed a small patch of HA (
need to finish my DIY ATS...and get it in the tank.

I think the extra day in shipping the TBS rock due to that big storm in Den. I got alot of die off on the rock as there is so much life on it. I am sure all this will clear up. my tank is moving along fast...
