Mine is doing great. Loves the gigs but seems to sleep in the mag. I also have a misbar that I found locally in an old seahorse tank both seem to be easy to keep. Planning to grab one from Among the Reef to go with my remaining one from live aquaria when I get back from vacation.

They are doing good, but they do not look like wild caught latz. This is a picture of the wc Juvis I got from dd in 2010 and the cb ones this year

What do you mean with that they don't look like wild?
I had wild adults and juveniles before and these look pretty much the same as wild juveniles. The widening of the bars and the blue lips develop as they grow up. Sent from my XT1254 using Tapatalk

Curious what you mean as well. They look pretty identical in the pics you posted to me. What am I missing in the pics? I see that the color is a bit lighter but I'm assuming these cb ones are just younger.

Something about the shape of the face just seems off to me, that and the color, but that could be because they are younger. I'll keep this post updated with how they develop.

The yellow color on pectoral fins is much more pronounced on wild caught juvi Latz. Their heads and gills are more proportional, etc etc. I know what knot-hard means.
I think Ocellaris clowns are a good example of how tank raised ones differ from wild caught ones. It's obvious in their shape and color. Same species that look different. |

To make them work with a pair of percula you would need to have a barrier between them and an appropriately mean fish guarding it so that none of the pairs dares to take a peek at the other side. BTW, DD has two baby pairs right now. Sent from my XT1254 using Tapatalk

Price-gouging at its best. They aren't rare. They aren't even uncommon in their native range. However because they come from Australian collectors, and Australian collectors have strict unit restrictions, they would rather catch specimen angels that they can wholesale for $200 each than a clown that they wholesale for $20. So someone asked the question - what if we asked the same amount for a common clown as for a rare adult angel - do you think people would actually PAY that much? Apparently they will and do... For the record, this is what a healthy adult pair looks like. Not those misshapen misfits... lats.jpg

I have a pair of Karen's captive bred latezonatus on the way from Among the Reef. For the time being they will have to share a 20 gallon tank with my yellow Assessors and janssi pipefish.

Do you think the ones at DD are from Karen as well? Some of them certainly look the part and none of the recent has any misbaring.

Jordan sells them for $300 a pair, which I think is fair. The $400 (399) DD sells them for likely reflects their larger overhead.
Anyone who ever bred clownfish (wild forms) can tell you that what you usually get for them from a LFS (let's not even talk wholesalers) is a joke when comparing the work it takes. If you then consider also that the life-expectancy of a clownfish can be anywhere between 20 and 30 years (counted from hatch), than most clownfish are terribly undervalued.
