Cycling with fish?
I am planning a 360 lit. (about 100 g with the sump) reef aquarium. will start in about a month. I was wondering after reading a bit about the cycling if there is a fish that will be able to linger and survive through the cycle

No. It damages their organs even if they do survive and is needlessly cruel, besides exposing your tank to parasites from an unquarantined fish. Dropping a few flakes of fish food in daily (ghost feeding) will causes a cycle, no problem.

Don't do it. Your live rock and sand should perform the task of cycling for you. You can get a bottle of kick start bacteria too if you want.

My ~400 lit tank finally was build and filled this Sunday. Used Aquaforest reef salt. tank is custom made 120x50xh60 cm
The sump is 40x80. Inside its AF live sand (15kg only) and AF rocks about 20 kg. Equipment is all from Maxspect: MJDC6K pump, Jump skimmer (now off), wave maker GF4K (now off) and RSx 150 LED lights (+ the WiFi controler, light is on for the day but only 20-40% for about 5h) EHeim 200W heater, Kessil H80 refuge light. Added 3 days ago and today about 60 ml of microbe lift Nite out II and today I added about 0.8 ml 25% analytical grade ammonia to give a final concentration of about 0.2 ppm (based on the Seachem ammonia alert thing) Salinity is 1.026. Temp is 24°C. Have glass wool for filtration will be later on replaced by Macro algae. Did not start testing will wait for the Ammo alert to go white again (or less blue) |
