Sounds like you have an impressive collection. Any pictures that we can drool over?

If you know all the tricks, it can be done <10 sec.

Cebuan Purple Masked Angelfish. This fish was grown from a tiny 1" specimen in the office of the LiveAquaria Director Kevin Kohen."

Interesting.. I have seen Kevin's tanks several times. How would he catch that fish if the tank was not tore down. Wonder why he would be taking tanks down. Slight chance he may have trapped it though.

Anyway great fish..

He uses a trap, and he's pretty skilled with it.

I just made the prediction a while back that Kevin leaves LA. eventually since they were bought out by Petco.

Too me even if he trapped it that is kind of weird he is taking it out of his tank?

Anyhow I dont want to derail this thread.

I can't speak to the first statement of course, but he has done this kind of thing for years. He enjoys being able to raise some of the young ones up, and by selling them down the line it's sort of a revolving door.

Once fish get accustomed to finding food in the trap, most go in even if you have trapped them before. With a good trap, catching most fish is easy.

I love the purples.. but I've lost all my 5 though their teleportation skills(tank is covered with glass, 1/8 slits on overflows, they still managed to escape).

Nevertheless, I'll try again next time I see a bunch.
