Not sure if serious but thanks. I'm upgrading phones soon, so I hope to post some better quality pics.

Your pics are fine. I was commenting on your diligent work to provide lots of them, which is great, for you and us! Seriously!

I skimmed the thread but didn't see mention of where you purchased the bracket for the kessil lights? They look sweet.

Thanks. They are made by Jon at Lerusso Designs. He was independent but now does business out of Careefco. He's on these forums also. If you google Lerusso designs you'll find them.

Also stopped by my LFS last night and picked up a proper titanium heater made by aquatop controlled by my Neptune, a sweet new frag, a sand sifting star and an emerald crab which I failed to photograph. The star disappeared into the sand right after I took the photo. Also trimmed what seemed like a pound of chaeto out of my sump. Surprising there's still other macro that's alive under all of it.

Beautiful tank. (and fuge!)

We're kind of in the same boat. I've effectively been out of the hobby for many, many years and just getting the bug again. Although my system has had saltwater circulating for a decade, I turned the lights out and just topped up the water (occasionally) during "the dark ages". Surprisingly, my royal gramma THRIVED the whole time with nothing but indirect light and no added food. It ate pods, I assume.

Anyway, I'm dumping lots of cash into it again and hopefully I will have something worthy of sharing like you have.

aww shucks.. thanks. Funny thing, I've been thinking about reefing on and off for many years and just randomly saw a 14g biocube on craigslist and decided to pick it up because it was only a few streets down from my house.. from that the passion for this was reignited. I've had so much more success than ever before thanks to this forum and the people posting here... great knowledge sharing.

Now onto your tank.. amazed that your gramma thrived with no added food for that long.. that's crazy

you have a blog going yet?

So about temperature control... I've been living in PHX now for over 5 years so drastic outside temperature swings should not have caught me by surprise, but they did. I had been running without a heater since late June when I started this tank.. A couple of weeks ago temps started going crazy. It could be 80s during the day and 40s at night..Lind story short(er), I threw in a nano heater I has laying around, but it was way too small. Last night, I picked up a 200w heater and now I'm able to use my neptune to really stabilize temp .. Check it out:

Welp, as of yesterday, my clam is toast. I added 6 new snails on Friday, just threw them in there.. bad idea. One of the snails slimed out on me.. I thought it was harmless slime and it wasn't touching the clam. Clam looked healthy Friday night. Saturday morning, the slime from the snail was touching the clam and the clam had literally melted overnight, like almost nothing left. I thought the snail was dead, but as I was picking him up, he moved.. so I put him by the glass, and he happily stuck himself to it and started eating algae. What was the slime? Very odd.

$2100 well earned and well spent.

Loving my refractometer. I thought I was going to be way off, but I'm spot on

And here is 8 days if chaeto growth.

Time to trim my fuge's bush

More great pics!

Chaeto is great for exporting nutrients. Every time you cut it back, it's like cleaning out your skimmer cup.

Good luck with the new stuff, and the wife! We all have our strategies…

It's nice having a good lfs like that! We have one in Milwaukee that is the same way and the owners are some of the nicest people you would ever meet. Like the setup by the way. Lots of nice goodies in there.
