DIY Reef Drop Off

I have a AIO nano turning up tomorrow. I have a plan to construct a water tight box out of glass and place in the corner of the aquarium to create a drop off. I will silicone this to the three panes (bottom, side and front).

Can anyone see any issues with this re: stressing the aquarium in any way. I'm kinda thinking that if anything it should merely act to strengthen it.

Just a quick sanity check....
