Rock slide fallout

I nudged a large rock i thought was super glued in place and it came crashing down. It took out a frogspawn, and then exploded a plate coral on which it came to rest. My frogspawn almost looks bruised. Will either of these corals survive?

Plate coral looks like a a montipora, color doesn't look great, both pieces of it should survive otherwise. Frogspawn looks fully extended, seems ok.

It just has a head that looks discolored in a way i've never seen it do. My lights are pretty weak (orbit LED). Working on that and the GHA asap.

Honestly, looking at those photos, I'd say you have bigger issues.... The algae growth is distressing to look at... Sorry but I call it as I see it.

You are absolutely right. I'm working on it. I feed sparingly and do regular 40% WC. When the budget allows i'm going to try a reactor type situation. Parameters seems ok in that the algae uptakes and undesirables and I extract by hand. I had a big refegium and I took it out and the algae just rapidly exploded.

Skimmer isn't a requirement. The monti requires high lighting and the orbit is only good enough to grow softies. I would try and get a new light. The monti should have a bright and deep color to it. The frogspawn should be okay but it also should have better coloration.

All the corals seem to survive under the light. They grow but slowly. My other frogspawn added 3 heads. I'm working on a light right now.

Corals including SPS did great under my non-pro Orbit.

Yes surviving is not good enough, that monti looks very pale and probably will eventually die

Well its been alive and growing for 2 years so i'm not sure that I agree that it's going to die from lack of light. I'm working on lights tho.

Refugium macro algae prevents. CUC limits.

Spend an hour reaching in and physically pull out that algae. Best Method.

In the ocean reefs get broken up in strong storms, that is a normal way for corals to propagate.

How does beating the Op up about lights answer his rockslide concern? I think both corals should recover and you can chalk it up to a "fragging" event

Looks like a wait and see game with the coral but I wouldn't be overly concerned.
I'm not 100% over my algae, but being skimmerless, I can say that upping the CUC, adding chemipure elite and hand pulling algae in 1 month has gotten almost all the bryopsis off my stacked rocks (thought it still grows on powerheads and back wall). It's now almost a nonissue.

It's a surprise it's grown for the past 2 years. But the size of yours is about a month of growth from mine. I frag mine several times every few months

I can't wait to see what my new light does for my reef.

It will be a complete difference. Just be sure to SLOWLY acclimate your corals
