Dosing 2 Part in a Heavy Demand 300g Reef

I have been using 2 Part for many years for my 300g mixed reef. I am now growing more SPS and my dosing has increased to 350ml/day using Randy' recipe 2. I expect this to increase significantly as my SPS grow out. Are there other large tank reefers out there with big 2 part demands? I would be curious if anyone is dosing more than this amount. Or, should I be considering switching to a CO2 reactor?

I was dosing 300mL in my 120g tank and switched to a CA reactor and am much happier. My advice would be to spend the money on a great regulator. It is worth it.

Good Luck.

My 40 required 35ml before I switched to a CaRx. So that amount sounds reasonable.

My Alk usage in my 180 is a little more than 2.0 dKH day I use a Ca Reactor and have recently also started adding Kalk to my ATO as the Ca reactor is driving the ph level down. The amount of CO2 used to create the replacement Alk is high.

I do 2 part plus kalk on my 120. I am about 4 times the seachem beginner dosage.

So, my Alk usage then is ~0.7 dKH....assuming a 360g system. This suggests that my usage could easily double or more. At that level, do I really want to be dosing a liter/day? I will need huge 2part reservoirs, such as 5 gal.

I certainly wouldn't, and don't. I did dose two part (Randy's) but with my SPS it is much easier to be using a calcium reactor, and I have a large one. Reef Octopus CR5000. I do keep two part on hand to periodically adjust as the corals grow and the reactor needs to be periodically adjusted.

You need a calcium reactor. It will be cheaper in the long run

Thanks for the pic....gives me some perspective and makes me realize that I have a long way to go before I max out Alk demand.

Nice tank, btw.

Thank you! Ya it gets crazy and expensive to keep doing 2 part at a point. I save something like $700 annually with the reactor over the 2 part I used
