AK flucuations

I've already read a lot about this but somehow worry I'm not on track. My parms are:

Mg - 1380
Ca - 430
Ph. 8.3

It's a 25g with about a 7g sump mixed tank.

My AK seems to drop about 0.5 to 0.7dkh every day. I test after I get home from work. It is usually around 8.0 to 8.3. I'll dose 7-8ml of B-Ionic part 1. Then when I test again a few hours later is usually goes up around 0.5 to 0.7. The Ca drops very slowly and I only dose part 2 about twice a week. I could get away without dosing Ca at all just based on water changes.

According to the difficult to interpret salifert Ph test, I don't see any obvious fluctuation in the color. I've got a digital Ph meter on the way.

Does this sound right? I mean, if I miss dosing for a couple of days it drops down to under 7 really fast. I don't have any corraline growth on the tank and no obvious precipitation.

Is this normal or am I missing something?

Thank you!

Sorry for not being clear. I'll test in the evening and it will be 8.7. Then when I test again the next day after work it will be down to 8.3 or lower.

NVM. This article answered my question. I should be dosing both parts and this drop is normal.

That alk consumption is certainly possible...Its not necessary to dose each part equally if consumption doesnt seem to require it...
Measure each and dose each as needed..

100% possible on a new tank. I was getting way more of a drop everyday. Coraline growth can consume a HUGE amount of Alk and Calcium.
I was surprised everyday to lose 1.5 alk. Ended up dosing twice a day, burning through Hanna Test regents. But worth it.
