Wow. You woke up an 8 year old thread. What salt are you using? Have you tested newly mixed saltwater? Ca at 350 is bad and alk is not way off either. That's not causing your issues with BTA.

Other than the anemone, what else is growing in your tank? If you aren't growing any hard corals, keep your kH at around 10 and Ca around 350-400. If you are keeping stony corals, then we need to know a bit more about what you have and the rest of your setup.

me too!!!
I am having the same problem...my brand new saltwater in the mixing
tank is alkalinity of 12 !! Same thing in my reef....why is it so high? I never had alk this high until the last year...my alk was always around 8. What the hell is going on? Is it the Reef Crystals salt I am using or is the RO water>? Should I test the RO water itself and if so what should the alk of it be? Thx Tim

Hello. A year later..
Ok. My alk is measuring T 300KH by the test strip (6 n 1) things. I know I know... I'm getting a real test kit today. My Calc 400. That's a drop in 1 week from 430. Mg is consistent at 1410. Ph is about 8 (that real test I'm getting today. NO3 10. And Phos 0. I'm new to having a nano (32gal bio coralife) and am finding I really need to keep on top of things as opposed to my 300gal softie beloved tank (RIP) that had tons of forgiveness. So I've tried to find a conversion for the alkalinity and can't. Help! Do I need to panic? I'm running RO to do a water change in case... My biocube has been running for about 6 months or so. Thanks!! Lisa |
