Gooey cobweb in rock

Does anyone know what this is? It looks like a cobweb in one of the pits of my rock . Kind of gooey Whit translucent encasing a whole in the rock. I redid my tank a couple of months ago (new substrate and 100% new water) after loosing all my fish during a power outage , all the rock is about 8 1/2 yrs old with the exception of about 10lbs of new dry reef saver rock .

It's hard to say without pictures, but it could be some sort of bacteria.

I've seen similar things come in on live rock shipments but don't know what it is. Perhaps the beginning stages of a sea sponge?

Or sea spiders! LOL
