Reefbreeders/(Evergrow OEM) Fixtures D120/IT20** series

By request, and from the growing popularity of these fixtures, this is a separate thread to discuss these lights, and experiences with them.

Evergrow Lighting in China is the manufacturer of these series of lights, and Reef Central Sponsor Reefbreeders sells them in the US, with a US warranty. they are "no frills" lights that may not have as many features as other lights, but the price/performance ratio is very attractive. Many of us running them have had a lot of success with them. Leds are also "easily" swappable to different colored leds with a soldering iron.

Another perk, is that you can arrange for group buy pricing (RC will only allow group buy discussion in Reef Breeders sponsor forum, any other type of group buy discussion is a violation of RC rules and must be done elsewhere or privately). If you have a reef club and need multiple units, they can discount the price per unit. Usually 12 or more are needed.

The 16" D120 (value fixture) is manually dimmable and 120w.
The IT20** has an automatic controller with an LCD screen, moonlights, aluminum heatsinks, and an IR remote control. Comes in 16" 24" and 32" sizes.

One of the latest tests I ran with my PAR meter on the IT2080 (32" fixture) and Radion Pro on the same tank, puts PAR numbers nearly identical. 30" down from fixture to the sandbed, both lights hit around 350 PAR (μmol m-2 s-1) at the sandbed dead center. Both hit around 1000 at the water line 8" down from the fixture.

Some pics. I included a Radion Pro in comparison, which is obviously no slouch in performance, and one of the best commercial led fixtures available.

Radion Pro 14k mode / IT2080 Blue 60%: White (and colors) 50%

Radion Pro 100% All channels / IT2080 100% All channels

Radion Pro best setting for the camera (whites down to 85%, rest to 100%)

Radion Pro / IT2080 32"

IT2080s 72" 125 gallon

I have been watching these lights for a good time now, waiting for an influx of IRS overpayments to come back to me so I can buy new lights. I currently have a 120W Evolution 14K LED that very closely resembles these lights other than it is just blue and white...

I have been considering the D120 but I am concerned about the amount of red and green in the light. To those who have had these lights for a good amount of time, how do you feel the reds look in person? Would you opt to have them removed and add some more blues?

I have 2 of the 24" ITSERIES on my 60" 120 and couldn't be happier ... for 680 shipped to my door I was able to light up my whole 120 gallon tank, custom pick each led and the layout, add moon lights to the tank(moonlights included in itseries) and run them both off just one power supply. Also came with a 2 year warranty through reefbreeders ....

Didn't even realize we upgraded tanks to feed our reef addiction at the same time. Both tanks looked/look really good.

Why do the pics of the it2080 look like they have a pink hue to them? Is it just the pic or is it that way in person?

Its overblown in the pics, but there is a slight purple tinge to them. I used 10 violets instead of the normal 8, and 6 reds instead of the normal 4. I might remove some in the future to see if it makes it go away.

What are the perks to having the controller? Does it just control the blue and white?

How much control does the IT2080 controller give?

What all can the controller do? I am trying to figure out if it's worth getting the 32 inch fixture or if I should just buy 2 of the cheaper models. Any opinions?

On their website it says for one of the value fixtures, you can light a 36" area with sps in the middle and lps on the edges. Any one know if this is accurate? I have a 40 breeder and my birthday is coming up so I may try and upgrade to LED from my current T5 set up

The 24" fixture could, but the 32" would cover the whole thing and make the entire tank SPS capable.

It's probably cheaper to get the 32".

The controller is basic. It can do sunrise/sunset, and you can set the intensity of the leds for every half hour. It also has moonlights and an IR remote control.

Give it a shot. The tank already looks good, so it'd be interesting to see.

Apollo Reef Led makes a good light. You need an Apex or DIM4 to control it though, and it uses 3 power cords.
