Cool 302 Aquatics ATS thread

Well ive finally decided to try a good ( I hope) ATS that isn't diy and see how well it performs and what quality it will be. Ive had a lot of algae problems the last year or so and to be honest ive been neglecting my system for some time now because ive been concentrating on other interests. Ive recently gotten back into fixing everything and wanted a helping hand with nutrient export.

I have around 230 gal total water volume and decided to go with the AS-2 scrubber from 302 Aquatics. I ordered it on the 3rd and haven gotten it in just yet, but I did just message them and was told someone messed up and said it was shipped but it wasn't. So they are going to get it out to me as fast as they get more lights in. I understand things happen and appreciate them letting me know the problem. As soon as I get it in ill post pics of unboxing and quality of the product.

I bought a medium sized standard model a couple years ago for my equivalently sized system. I love it. My nitrates are .5 max, need high precision test kit to test this. No algae other than my fuge and this ATS. It grows hair algae nice and full, and none of it escapes to my sump. The drain does make some noise if the water volume is too high so you need to put a ball valve on the input side. You want slow, but stead water flow. I use a 12 hour, off cycle photo period. Only issue thus far is the two LED lights died. Good news is you can buy them on Amazon very cheaply.

I just got a larger, 4 light DAS-3 for a freshwater tank i am building. I have read that ATS work for freshwater tanks, and so am giving it a try.

Thanks for the reply and advice.
I'm running a DIY ats at the moment only light on one side with a d120 led fixture angled at the screen so i know it's far from the correct setup and I still get some growth on it. This setup I'm getting should really help with my algae problems.
I also run chaeto in the fug area in my sump.

Wow, interesting info here. I ordered one almost a month ago, but ended up cancelling before next business day because after reviewing my space I found I really didn’t have room for it. I emailed back and forth with them, and now it’s turned into a paypal claim. Their response to PayPal is due by tomorrow, but I’m guessing that’s not going to happen. I’ll fight it with my bank next I guess.

Yeah i was going to try to wait for a response from this guy but they dont seem to respond to anybody so i just escalated it to a claim to get this done faster.
Its a shame i heard good things at first about this guy and his company....

The fact that you cancelled before the next business day and they didn’t refund immediately would be shocking if I hadn’t read everything else that is now coming to the surface.

Still, sorry that everyone is having these problems.

I emailed them with question on Jan 19 (less than two weeks ago) and received an immediate response. Glad I bought my second 302 scrubber used on ebay. dodged a bullet.

Im glad my friend at work dodged the bullet also at the same time i was getting the run around he was getting messages that 302 had over 100 scrubbers that needed to be sold and he held off because my first excuse from this guy was that they were out of lights and his workers didn't tell him so he fired someone for the problem. Now were did all those lights go if he had over 100 of them that he needed to sell off with a discount?

For what it’s worth, I’ve been using a scrubber I bought from here:
https://www.expressions-ltd.com/prod...nt=20229100934
I find it odd that it’s not built by an aquarium-type company, but nonetheless I’ve been very pleased and getting great results in my 115 gal mixed reef. Fits perfectly inside the 2nd chamber of my Trigger 39 sump.

I'm only about 45 mins drive from their factory...I should have known something was up when I asked if I could come pick it up in person and they said no. I think I might take a ride up there anyway this week with a couple buddies and pull an "OJ Simpson" move on them and demand my scrubber...lol !!

I think the moderators need to put in quotes "don't buy from!" In the title so everybody else will read into this more and won't get taken like so many others are now!
What do you think mods?

if you get your money back then put some coin together and buy from the gentleman in post 10, Floyd R Turbo.

Bud is always responsive and his scrubbers get a lot of love.

I just got my confirmation that PayPal decided in my favor since 302 never responded to them so I should see the refund soon!
It's just a real shame it had to come down to this for so many people that trusted in that company
