I will start buy saying I am truly humble. I have been in the fish scene for most of my life, I am 45 years of age, and my farther was a devoted hobbyist and entrepreneur, we had large, full scale fresh water farm, ect, ect. so my experience has led me to grow. Witch brings me to my saltwater experience for the last 6 years or so, I have been playing with salt.
I started small with "nano" style systems, out grew that, built a mixed 75g reef with moderate success, I have started a new larger system that I would like to be a sps style setup. I would like to share my knowledge and put my new set up for a Reef Central type of project. I have been in preparations for this sps set up for over 6 moths, 6-2-15 was fill date. At this point I don't know how to continue, so I can say a few things about this set up. I found this tank on CL for 1200.00. It has grown since its cl days. Lets talk about my lighting, right now the tank has: 48" reef breader, 4x48" t5, 2x 165w wifi evergrow, 6x 10w 402nm led. The skimmer is a older PM brand with updated Jebao pump. |

Interesting use of mirrors to help direct the light. I'm intrigued.

Something similar although less complex I'm going to implement on my system. Point source LED lights need to be aimed and not just hung over an aquarium to reduce shadowing.

Main pump from sump is a Dart hybrid, closed loop pump is jebao 12000 on 100%, tank has two mp40s on each end on 100% reef crest on sleep mode during day and 100% at night. I have added a apex to the system a few months back, ph, temp only at the moment, I plan on upgrading soon and add more features, one of the things I would like advise on is what to purchase next.

The evergrow leds are set up for cross lighting, The photon 48" is mounted high enough that it almost covers the hole tank but shy a foot on both ends. The T5s do good job of filling in the shadows from the leds. I just upgraded to the evergrow wifi, I real like these new ones there awesome. lol A lot of people Don't like the "black box leds" but these new ones are very different from older models with some really cool features.

Another thought on the mirrors was the back of my canopy is open and there was a lot of light blowout, so my thought was try and put the blowout light to some use and also not have all the light blowing out everywhere ..
