Someone help me ID this guy!!

Hi, have a 110l tank with fish n some softies, noticed this white sponge growing, have been following it's progress. It is now growing a couple of dark green 'arms.' friend or foe?

Lets guess for fun while they are getting a better picture....

A spot of Green Hair Algae (GHA) and a stalk of Neomeris Algae..

Looks like you need to work on reducing nitrates and/or phosphates too..

But thanks for that pic.. I needed to feel like I was drunk today..

Hi! Thanks for the replies. My lights are off now will take a photo in the morning. Am aware of needing to bring my nitrates/phosphates down,
Have got some rowaphos on the way to help and daily water changes have been helping too.

Will search for the Neomeris algae, ta!

I am guessing the white thing is a sponge. Pineapple sponge?

I see some encrusting sponge , Some Green hair algae, Diatoms and what looks like a blade type algae growing thru the sponge. but maybe its GHA..


Ohh and it looks like there might be some Cyano..


My suggestion is Get your Nutrients in check.


I can barely make up the picture so i could be way off
