Another gig attempt

Making another attempt at gigs. The small yellow one was a replacement from BlueZoo for a "green" that was grey brown. It went straight from the shipping bag to cipro in a QT for one week. It's been in the display for a week now with no deflation. It didn't deflate at all in QT and was attached to the inside of the shipping bag.

The second is a large purple I stumbled across at an LFS last week. They made me a great deal and it's been in QT for about 5 days now. First four days were with cipro only. It didn't look 100% so I've done one day with a combo of cipro and sulfa/trimethoprin.

Nice! The yellow should be a nice green when he colors up.

Can you get some column pics of those mert's?!

Can't get a column pic of the red, but here is the green. I'm pretty sure it is a mertens, but it acts a little differently sometime . It tends to not lay flat but it's oral disk stretches upwards

Im actually starting to wonder if it might be a gig with short stubby tentacles. The previous owner had for a year or so and bought it as a "green carpet"

So... not to derail my own thread but does anyone think this might be helianthus?

I didn't want to say it, but almost looks that way. Can you get a better pic with whites on?

Thanks! I was starting to question my original ID... I got it for very cheap from a local reefer. I've never seen one in person before. Anyway, I'm fine with that. It does have kind of a cool yellow-green to it under blue LEDs

You can get them at Petco by the hundreds. I bought 4 of them one time because I thought they were gigs. Lol

If I had a dollar for every reefer that thought they had a gig when it was a S. Helianthus, I'd be a rich man. :-)

I got rid of mine. I don't like them.

That's funny in a way... anyway sure glad I didn't pay a "gig" price for it...

Looks like the one from blue zoo will end up being nice once it colors back up. Good luck.

I bought a helianthus by mistake but once I realized what it was the LFS accepted it back. I was thinking that's what you had as well.

The purple looks good today. I sucked out some large globs of dead zoox. The green has been open most of the day but draws into the rocks by late afternoon. Should I back off on the LED intensity? It's under a kessil a360we at 100% with the dial turned all the way to white, plus a 165w led s-box with both channels at 100%.

My tiny green is doing something similar. It never deflates but it balls itself up once in a while. Not sure why. I tried turning down the lighting but it didnt seem to change the behavior. It has been eating fine and has been doing it less frequently as time has passed. Mine has been in the display for a week or so.

Beautiful.

I'm having trouble identifying mine. LFS said merten but I'm not so sure. Friend that owns another LFS said Haddoni.

Here is the purple today. Just snapped a quick pick during the 50% WC. It's still expelling a small amount of brown material. When is a good time to move a gig to the DT? Been in QT for one week with cipro and sulfa/trimeth.

I usually keep them in QT for one week without any meds to see how it does. If it doesn't deflate or expel dead zoox, it goes into the DT.

Thanks. Think I should stop meds over the weekend and give one more week in QT or until it stops expelling waste?
