EB8 on Battery Backup??

I would like to know if it would be OK to put a single EB8 on a UPS battery backup and just have a couple things plugged into it(like the return pump).

I would have 3 total EB8's on the system but only one on the Battery Backup.

Thanks,
Aaron

Yes that is fine. Through programming you can differentiate between the items you want on in the event of a power outage and those you want off to conserve battery.

Lobster,
Can you show me an example of the programming you are mentioning?

Thanks!

EB8 on Battery Backup??

On the eb8 plugged into backup, you can use the following statement at the end of any outlets you want to stay off when the power goes out:

If power eb8_x off 000 then off

Change the x in eb8_x to the address of one of your other eb8s. 000 is the delay that it stays off once the power comes back. So if this was a skimmer you could set it to 005 to let the water level in the sump normalize. The apex brain should get power from the eb8 that is on backup and will know when power to one of the other eb8s has failed.

Just be careful with pumps. The manner in which most battery backups provide power is not a pure sine wave. AC pumps and motors are more sensitive to this than other electronic devices. You devices won't be running long on battery... So again for you this may be a non factor, but I think it is worth mentioning and researching on your own.

Those that generate a "pure sine wave"
Just google "pure sine wave battery backup"
