Tunze Master DOC 9410 DC foam head

Roger,

I have not paid attention to how the foam-head should look like on the protein skimmer. (Been a lazy reefer--owned and been using skimmer for over 7 months). My dial on the DC pump is set to about 25% to get a dry frothy foam-head that is just kissing the top of the cup.

I do feed heavily and have very high bio-load.

For best performance of this skimmer, what do you recommend the foam head should look like?

Thanks

I find it very difficult to adjust a skimmer based on foam head so I adjust based on what I collect. I prefer a more watery skimmate above all because the cup neck stays cleaner and that means less maintenance and more removed since the caked up scum breaks the foam head. I dial it in until I collect something that looks somewhere between a bottle of green tea and a bottle of plain iced tea. I dump the cup every couple days as that is usually how fast it fills on my 9012 DC and I clean it completely once a week.

Thanks for the feedback. I will give a wetter skimmate a try.
