chiller cleaning?
my teco heater/chiller has been running for 2 years without a hiccup. I think it's due for some type of cleaning. I,m thinking of removing the hoses and running some vinegar/ water solution thru it. thoughts?

I'm fixing to hook one up so am interested in hearing what others say as well.

Which Teco unit do you have?
Have you read the manual? Often times they have recommended preventative maintenance listed in it.. In the ones I saw they have a "Routine maintenance" section right in the manual.. Cleaning out the tubes wouldn't hurt but likely not needed..

tk1000, all the manual talks about is cleaning the filter.

Cleaning the tubes can not do any harm.

what about build ups inside the unit? it has to be happening, just like the other pumps and powerheads.

More than likely just slime, will come out with a flexible brush on a spring from both ends.

Mix 1 gallon white vinegar with 2 gallons water. Pump through the skimmer for 30 minutes. After that, pump through clear water for 30 minutes. Dump out all the water you can (don't use compressed air) and you're good to go.
I do this every fall when I put my Teco into storage and have had no issues. Just did it today. |
