I wonder what would happen if I put an 800GPH pump onto my little Tunze 9002 Protein Skimmer... ? I wonder if it would rip the poor thing apart, or just be totally useless as a skimmer... I suspect the later.

Bump for next page.... I want the next hoard of photos to start at the top of a new one.

It always starts like this....

It always starts this way, I stop working for a moment just to go check on my tank. Half an hour later my camera is full of pictures, my arms covered in salt and my work day that much shorter....

Mostly, it started because I found this on my glass:

I suspect it to be a Pyramid Snail. Fortunately I do not have any clams right now. Unfortunately I want to get a clam or two in the near future. I hope this is the only one. I also suspect he was very hungry as they are obligate clam feeders.

Next is just a slew of photos. The glass was dirty-ish, pumps on, not enough light, blah blah blah.... Here they are:

Full Frame (uncropped) Xenia: Interesting to see the parts interlocking when they pulse closed.

SPS and Zoanthids: Mostly all full frame as well.

More macro shots will come once I do a few things - get stronger lights, clean the glass better, actually use my tripod, maybe get an off-shoe flash, turn off pumps... maybe make a photobox (yes, this will be done).

Very cool small worm:

Copepods!: All of a sudden this past week they have multiplied like crazy... they were largely absent for at least a month.

Here they are hanging out in a spot where my algae cleaner magnet didn't do a good job... you can see the algae and the lines where the cleaner's bristles did go.

Cropped Copepod: This is neat! Look at the green... I believe this to be the little herbivore's stomach... algae!

Aquarium photography is pretty tough... I'm not finding it easy and I understand well how a camera works.

I'm posting a few sub-par photos... perhaps I should go for quality over quantity right now?

Here comes more from the "quantity" department.
I posted a fish pic on my build thread.

Absolutely unbelievable. I've looked at these at least ten times over already

This thread is a wonderful gift! People can see amazing, close-up details of corals that they would never be able to see ordinarily.. very few of us would have the equipment or the skill!! Thank you thank you! It changes the way I look at these species

I've sort of entered the Canon family and haven't yet had a go around with Nikon - so I can only speak for Canon.

I'll say that you really can't go wrong with the XT or XTi (I guess it's the XSi now...).

I mean, if price is a little limiting I would recommend one of those... second hand you can come by them pretty cheap.

Check out websites like fredmiranda.com for their used gear section.

You'll love it and will never look back!

Keep coming back ..

OK, I'll be over soon to see if I can help at all. I'll dig up a few links about aquarium photography as well for you.

Again, ... thanks.

A gift! I wouldn't want to push it... I'm making some mistakes that's for sure... as well do. I'll keep the camera pointed towards the tank and I'll keep banging away on this website when I've got 'better' things to do.

Here's a few more from the other day...

Interestingly, the copepods by the end of the day seemed to have much fuller stomachs (darker, more pronounced)

Even more interesting is the sudden appearance of what I believe to be egg sacs on most of the copepods by the end of the day - they weren't there in the morning.

I'll have to crack open my limnology texts again... I'm loving the micro world in my tank right now.

Flatworms - I'm unsure as to the nature of the green dots on/in them. . . It could be algae, but dispersed all over their body? Maybe.... again, to the books!

Even the clowns are hosting copepods:

CROP OF ABOVE

I'm still having a tough time with WB under the actinics only.

Crappy shot of Stomatopod - lights are covered in condensation and wouldn't fire... this is just with the ambient outside light on the tank (it's an overcast day too).

If you ever consider doing a reef video, I think a mantis shrimp catching a fish would be cool.

On the way.

Ignore the towels... I tend to make a 'reef-mess' almost constantly.

Hmmm... I look like a dirt bag with that ripped chair... it was recently inherited from my parents and is being re-upholstered soon. I noticed it, and then my girlfriend pointed out how it looks

Thanks, I appreciate it!

Unfortunately I'm wanting a big tank now... very badly. There is a LFS with a 'lavendar tang'... it's breaking my heart I want it to badly. It has been there for weeks but nobody seems to want to buy it.. perhaps because its colours are somewhat muted.

How big should I go, 55? 75? !! The only problem is that I'm sort of between university degrees (or a job/extended travel) at the moment and a small reef tank affords me some maneuverability if necessary.... but damn! The extra cost for a 75G can't be that much more than a 20....A 20 with metal halides anyways.

Yeah they're great... I hope that they grow well. I like the idea of having a whole side of the tank over run by these mushrooms.

My Xenia is currently in the process of taking over... ah!

I think I'll put some on the backwall and up towards the water surface.... that would make me happy. I love when tanks have coral all over the back wall... Maybe even some SPS frags?
