Has anyone changed from A360WE to AP700
I decided to go for a AP700 instead of the 2x A360WE over my 2ft Cube I put it up last night and the water seemed not as crisp as the 2xA360WE Anyone experienced this? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Thor2j: do you notice more "punch" in the ap700 to get to the bottom? I remember when the 360's were exposed for not having enough punch to get down in a 24-30 inch tank? A good friend of mine, removed his for that reason. So I'm curious if you notice any difference between the two. Since you have operated both.

I have mine at the third blue down from midline and currently at 56% and I think for 8 hours with 1.5 hour ramp up and down each. They sit at 12 inches above water line and 2 units over 48”x 24” x 24” 120 gallon sps dominant tank. I am raising intensity slowly and I’m shooting for around 70%. I do not have a par meter so my end goal may end up lower depending on how the corals react.

I am running the AP700’s on a 24”tall reef tank that is 34” front to back. I placed them about 9” off the top of the water. They can be lowered slightly or of course raised up for a wider spread. I would see no problem running them on a 30” H SPS tank. I am currently running them at about 50% intensity at mid day+, with a ramp up period before and ramp down afterwards. Over time, I plan to ramp up the intensity a bit more.

It’s got punch. None of my zoas on the bottom have reached up since I replaced the 360.

To answer your question, yes, much better light penetration to the bottom was the biggest difference. I can't remember the numbers but with similar PAR at the top, it was about 40% more PAR on the bottom of my 23" tank with the AP700s vs the 360s. |

Likely be fine for most things if you raise it up and increase intensity. Sps would have to be at the top probably.

The only reason I have 2-ap700 over my 120 (4ft) is because I wanted dominant sps. I’m having some troubles with acans on the sand bed because I have the light intensity too high. I have to find shaded spots for them. I’m sure 1 ap 700 will be just fine for mixed reef over 4 ft tank. Just raise it up to whatever kessil recomends.

I’ve been out of the game for a while I’m just curious how come I can’t find lumens ratings on these lights?
