Threw in 4 6105s to get the water moving for cycling

https://youtu.be/peed2LmWXZA

I also added about 5 rocks from my establish system to seed some bacteria

Additionally, I dosed 50 ml of zeobak, 150 ml of zeostart and 40 ml of spongepower to get things started.

Zeo cycling gets pricy!!

I’m reusing old sand. Trying to keep to a budget, even though I know using old sand is a risk.

Rising old sand and then adding it in, taking a while.

I’ll run it for a while and Test for phosphate.

I plan to add some CUC and maybe a fish or two in about 2 weeks

To my eye 5.0+. Whats ammoina at? Yeah Zeovit is way to $$ IMO, our hobby is pricy as it is so i do t feel the need to spend all the money in Zeo products but many people run awesome reef tanks using Zeovit. I like Microbacter7 for seeding and bacterial dosing and IO Bio Spira for seeding. Both are cheap and proven to work, they have worked very well for me in the past. Man your skimmer is going crazy right now, love it lol. As long as you rinsed the old sand you will be fine. Its not like they make new sand, it comes from the oceqn and needs to be cleaned as well.

Yea I think I’ll pick up some cheaper bacteria to help it along.

I would highly suggest keeping the tank as dark as possible while cycling. This will help insure the rock will develop a bio film on it to keep algae from taking hold on the rock and keep any algae from growing due to high nutrients from the cycle. Shut off those lights for the first month.

Thank you for the suggestion. So far the snails have taken care of any algae that has grown.

I will definite keep that in mind and reduce lights or turn off if I’ve got excessive algae growth

Yep, wanted to have less water to change while I get the pod population mature, sponges growing on the live rocks. Figured it’s going to take a good 3-6 months before chemistry is stable for adding livestock. Basically cooking rocks
