Anyone looking for S. gigantea?
Updates on day 8
. I adjusted the light (less intense) since there was sign of deflation. . As you can see from the picture, the foot is partially attached. . 50% water change will take place later today. Questions: should I feed it? It has been in my possession for 8 days without food. To fight off dead zoo, doesn’t it need to be fed? Thanks. |

No it doesn't need to be fed. Ever.
So, let it acclimate and be patient. Its tentacles will continue to extend, and it'll catch food you feed the tank. If you really want to direct feed it, wait a couple of weeks. Start with really small pieces of sushi-grade fish or mysis. My go to food these days is LRS Fish Frenzy. My gigs love it.

Updates on day 9
It has been a stressful treatment process, but it s a learning experience. Gig is not making it despite my efforts of saving it. Special thank to Dave (Taylor T) and Minh (Orion) for your assistance. RIP. |

Day 8 today. no more expelling since day 6. Last night was the first water change without cipro. However, this morning it wasn't fully inflated, not balled up, just less water. I wasn't sure if it was balling up or just lack of lighting. but once light turned on, it looks happy again. No shrinking during the day.
I'll keep it in QT for 6 more days and see

Sweet... it's looking good. The bleaching will be gone in no time.
All of my gigs deflate to different degrees at night, then puff back up when the lights go on. I wouldn't worry about yours.

What’s a fair price/going rate these days for a gig? The prices seem all over the place.

I’ve seen greens for as low as $100 up to $500. I paid $450 for my well established one. For me, I’d rather pay triple the price of a new import to get a healthy established one. It usually comes out cheaper in the end.
On blues I’ve seen about $200-$500. Last edited by pfan151; 05/03/2018 at 08:23 AM. |

Yes, the price varies, A LOT.
I'd say $40 on the low end for a tan one, and $500 for a blue. These are new imports. As pfan151 mentioned, the price goes up exponentially for established ones.

I paid close to $800 for my pair of green and purple 2 and a half years ago.
http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/sh....php?t=2458502 I would pay $1000 if I know the damn thing is going to live.

he was doing fine. but then I came across a nicer one and sold the blue LOL
the blue requires some more QT. the lip was still a little loose. sold him to a friend and started getting QT for the red gig. I want to put 1000% effort into the red
