I have a black leopard and a chaoti wrasse and The secret is finding someone whose successfully kept them alive for a year and convincing that person to sell them to you.LoL but seriosly thats what i did

Do leopard wrasses ever stop eating? Belly is bulged but seems to always want food. Don't want to pollute tank with too much food.

i just got a terminal male pink margin fairy wrasse saturday ,wow what an awesome specimine . i will have to get a snapshot asap for this tread

Males are rare but more common. Never seen a female before now.

do you treat your tank with prazipro with EVERY wrasse addition? or just with certain species like Leopards?

Yesterday I went to my LFS and saw this very cool looking little leopard wrasse, so I purchased it. I'm not quite sure which type it is. Can anyone identify this one for me? Here are the pictures. I was lucky enough to get a shot of the new wrasse with my female bipartitus that I purchased last week of December.

I was about to say this: It looks like a female bipartitus in the process of changing to a male. I think you will have a pair very soon.

But upon further looking I think you have Macropharyngodon ornatus. Either way beautiful fish.

Appears to be M. ornatus (Ornate Leopard)

Thanks guys. I am pretty sure you are correct. If you look at the fish it has the black spot at the base of the pectoral fins. I was just looking at this article...

yup ornate leopard ,looks awesome ! hey mysterybox i usually ony treat the leopards with the prazi pro and the ones that i should have i didnt and i lost three choati leopards ,what a stupid thing for me to do . live and learn but always pay attention to how you learned to live !

In the future i was thinking of adding either a Melanurus or a Radiant Wrasse. So thanks for the info! I guess I won't prazipro them.

please dont get my wrong you will probably be okay without but the option is there ,its your call so do what you think is best but you should be okay .

these guys can be stressful!

My MM was going to bed earlier & earlier, and waking up about 8:30 am (lights come on at 12:15 pm). It's becoming sixish that she goes to bed (not convenient since I get home later than that from work). Then last Thursday she didn't appear at all. By that evening, I figured I'd search the sand bed and give her a gentle nudge. I could not find her. sucked.

The next day, 10 am, nothing. 12 noon, nothing! lights come on, nothing. crap, I'm think, she's toast! 1:30 pm, She's up as if nothing was missed! what's up with that? eh?

they are tough and the one thing i can say for sure is time will tell of the condition he is in . very difficult time with them but if he makes it all will be good for a while , good luck

By the way, do NOT dig in the sand searching for leopard wrasses. It is a really bad idea.

can you opine? I had this wrasse that didn't come out for the first couple of days, I gave it a slight nudge, and it's fine.

I had a bipart for a few months that was great, until I introduced a new MM Leopard. They both never came back up out of sand. I feel that I might have been able to save it with prazi treatment, but it died & was eaten up in the sand. I had a bud very familiar with Leopard's, told me to nudge it since it wasn't up.........he's done it numerous times with great success.

OK, I am still learning about these guys, so it's not an "argument", and I've seen you around here long enough to respect your opinion. But please expand. What do I do if day after day she doesn't come out of sand? what would be the worse of 2 evils, let it die? or disturb? What other reasons would you suggest what you are suggesting?

any & all comments are welcome and appreciated!
