I thought it would be time for an update.
Pair 1 (Solomons or possibly Irian Jaya): Pair 2 (Solomons) in what my large crispa has become: Pair 3 (Solomons): Pair 4 (Solomons): These guys stress their gig too much... Pair 5 (Irian Jaya):

I would still count that as PNG/Irian Jaya. These guys definitely came from Indonesia and not the Solomon Islands.

You really can't tell by coloration. I've seen Solomon percula with the same coloration. The only thing you can go by is where they reportedly were collected (assuming there wasn't a screw-up at the wholesaler). The only reason I know reliably where they came from is because the LFS I got them from is a trusted source, plus they only got them because they were cheap (the Indonesian exporter wanted to get rid of them before Ramadan started). These 2 (and another picasso onyx) were the only survivors of that shipment, and only because I tossed them straight into hyposalinity and gave them a heavy dose of Septra.
My pairs 3 & 4 were direct imports from the Solomons that I got straight from the importer so those are certain. These were cherry-picked out of a shipment of at least 100. Pair 1 came from a local store that had no idea if they were even wild or captive bred (I'm certain they are wild), let alone where from. Based on the black, Australia can probably be excluded (not that they bother to collect percula anyway). The bulk of percula imports comes from the Solomons, so it's likely they came from there, but Indonesia (Irian Jaya/PNG) can't be completely excluded either. Pair 2 came from another store that claimed they were from the Solomons and they looked the part.

I got the 100 gallon tank up and running again about a month ago. They definitely like that one better than the basket. And with daily feedings their gigantea almost doubled in size since. Sent from my XT1254 using Tapatalk

Very nice clowns and anemone. Great recovery.
If you ever need more room let me know. I would love to take some of the Percula and Gigantea off your hand.

The gigantea is getting bigger and my Maldives Regal is clearly very cautious around it - he grew up around one and learned to avoid them. But since I added the Orchid dottybacks he is less shy and actually comes out into open water more.
It also looks like my Irian Jaya percula are getting ready to spawn...

The interesting thing is that pair 2 got a lot more black after I gave them the large purple crispa. Though a lot of the female's body orange turned into a washed-out brown.

These guys have become real chickens. At first they were just hanging out in a corner and were too scared to leave it. I had to chase them towards the anemone for them to get there. And now they never leave the anemone, not even for food. Food has to float by the anemone no farther than an inch for them to even consider going after it...

Pair #4 behaves very similar - just with a flowerpot instead of an anemone. And all my other percula are not really bold and outgoing either despite other non-threatening fish in their tanks. Sent from my XT1254 using Tapatalk
