I think my lawnmower blenny ate too much and died
Just like the thread title says. I'm used to seeing him eat until his belly is really fat, but last night after he ate his belly was the biggest I'd ever seen it. Looked like it was going to pop. Then his coloring turned almost black. He couldn't sit up right or really even swim. His eyes didn't focus on me like they usually do when I come up to the tank. He ended up dying last night. Pretty bummed. Had him for 4 years. He was one of my favorite fish. Has anyone else ever had or heard of a lawnmower blenny eating itself to death?

I'm not sure if mine ate to death but I had purchased one to help with my GHA boom. He was awesome and cleared the tank of GHA in 2 days. Then suddenly started going belly up and barely able to swim about 2 weeks later and died in QT. His belly was still fat so idk what really happened. All other fish were fine.

I added one to my tank he ate like a pig on my GHA and then I found him dead. He also had turned dark the day before.
I have plenty of GHA to support several so know he did not starve. LFS made good on it so I have credit for another one. |

Bacterial infections can cause swelling which I think is much more likely than overeating.
